The most notorious game of this year so far? What came first, the game or the hype? I’ll never tell. But that doesn’t mean something as substantial as this game should be ignored. In fact, I think “The Talos Principle” is easily one of the most interesting and unique titles of 2013.

This is partially due to the fact that there’s a lot of backtracking involved and also because many of the puzzles require a fair amount of thought and planning.

Additionally, some elements of the game can be quite frustrating as you get stuck on seemingly simple tasks for prolonged periods of time.

I was recently given the opportunity to review and play through the upcoming game Talos Principle from Croteam. I’ve never played a game like it before and I must say that I was thoroughly impressed.
As the player, you traverse the environment, solving puzzles, interacting with characters and examining strange machines. The setting is an eerie patch of woods and there are many references to Greek mythology throughout. In fact, one of the characters references Kafka by name and you can even see a crazed old man wandering around in the background!
As well as being an interesting story, Talos Principle also contains some very challenging puzzles. Some take several minutes to figure out while others will keep you occupied for hours on end. Most of these require a combination of observation and experimentation to work out.
In short, if you’re looking for an engaging and visually stunning puzzle game then Talos Principle is definitely worth your time.
