Yelp recently announced their 2021 list of Top 100 Places to Eat in Texas. Clearly, this isn’t Yelp’s first rodeo. They know a little something about “top-rated.”
But here we offer our 5 favorite Texas restaurants to visit on your next vacation.
1. Franklin Barbecue
If you don’t wait on the 4-hour line at Franklin Barbecue in Austin, your Texas vacation doesn’t count.
You can’t go wrong with Franklin Barbecue’s claim to fame—moist brisket. But their ribs, sausage, potato salad, and everything else on the menu is the best quality barbecue in town.
TIP: Franklin Barbecue opens at 11 am daily (except Mondays). When visiting Texas plan on securing your place in line by 6 am.
2. That’s My Dog
This place transformed one of America’s all-time classic foods into their That’s My Dog (TMD) gourmet dog of perfection. TMD’s famous 100% Beef Brisket Dog with mouth-watering TMD BBQ Sauce is a customer favorite. Pair that with TMD Frites (Fries) and chase it with one of their awesome desserts.
It’s no wonder why TMD earned over 1500 5-star reviews on Yelp. That’s My Dog also placed #20 on Yelp’s list of must-haves in Texas.
Visit That’s My Dog for one of their palate-pleasing gourmet dogs and Soul Food Sunday entrees. Savor the TMD experience.
3. Becks Prime
Commitment to quality starts with their fresh 100% Certified Angus Beef. Beck’s Prime Restaurant never freezes their award-winning burgers, which carry the title “top ten burgers in Texas.” Just like the hormone-free chicken, hot dogs, and sandwiches, Becks Prime cooks their burgers to order.
Prep your taste buds with the Parmesan Truffle Fries but save room for their highly acclaimed “heavenly thick milkshakes.”
Stop by and pull up a seat at one of the many Becks Prime Restaurant locations. Treat yourself to the ultimate Houston vacation and taste the finer side of fast food.
4. Tony’s Italian Delicatessen
Since you’re visiting Houston anyway, take a short trip to Tony’s Italian Delicatessen in Tomball or Montgomery. This might be your only chance to meet R. DeNiro and S. Stallone.
Calm down, we’re talking about sandwiches. But take it from us, they are the stars of the show at Tony’s Italian Delicatessen. Treat yourself like a celebrity and taste why Yelp placed them at #4.
You’ll break every rule in the etiquette book dining at Tony’s. Dessert first? Go for it! With Cannoli and Eclair on the menu you should have two.
5. Gaido’s Seafood Restaurant
Take a road trip down to Galveston for Gaido’s Seafood Restaurant. They serve the freshest fish and seafood straight from the Gulf.
Few things are better than Gaido’s fried catfish. You might could find them on the dessert menu but first enjoy Gaido’s calamari appetizer gumbo. It originated in Louisiana but Texas perfected it.
End your food tour with a plate of Texas’s state pie. Gaido’s Pecan Crunch gives you greatness all by itself but don’t turn down the Bourbon sauce and ice cream on top.
